Posted on Monday, September 12, 2005 - 08:38 GMTI have the same problem. Windows will not recognize the DV camera.

It did work after I bought it, but that was on a Sony VAIO computer (I only thought of the connection when I got home and it didn't work on my own computer). I think there are two possibilities. It also says in the Sony booklet that the camera works with four pin i.LINK, and like most people, I have the 4pin/6pin combo, perhaps having the 4pin/4pin will work.

I don't know, but I see a lot of other people have this problem. I think that Sony is making it difficult to use anything but a Sony computer system so that you feel compelled to buy their products.

Posted on Monday, January 08, 2007 - 03:27 GMTI have a sony 8mm camcorder that I want to download to a Sharp dvd recorder and while it is downloading to dvd show it on my Magnavox tv. I have the connection cable, have in past downloaded the 8mm tapes to the same equipment but had my son's help and the booklet that goes with it. I cannot find the booklet anymore and my son is miles away and does not remember how to do it. Does anyone know how to do this that can explain it in everyday language so it can be done. I am giving the recorder and the camcorder to my granddaughter for her use and want to let her know how to do it.

I am getting a camcorder that automatically records to a dvd-r so won't have to worry about it anymore. Please let me know. Posted on Thursday, July 19, 2007 - 02:22 GMTI have a Sony CDR-DVD92. When I bought it, I was too stupid to check if it had a USB connection. There is no way that I can imagine to connect it my PC. What I need to do is download videos I have recorded on those Sony mini DVD-RWs to my PC's hard drive so I can manipulate them, post video snippets on web sites, include them in PowerPoint presentations, and the like. Right now, all I can do is play the DVDs.

Anyway, PLEASE, HOW DO YOU COPY VIDEO FROM THE DCR-DVD92 TO YOUR PC? Is there any way on earth to do it?

Patty said there was on aJan. 25 posting, using Roxio Easy Media Creator 8.

I have e-mailed twice, but no reply. Can anyone help me? Posted on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 - 21:37 GMTI have a Sony DCR TRV260, I went to the sony support site, but my problem is I have Vista home basic and it asks for my model, serial number and the CD-Rom part number '-' removed, and I bought it from my brother and of course the cd wasnt in the case, so if anyone has the cd for it and would share the # on it with me I would greatly appreciate it. If not, what other programs would work with this video camera so that it would be compatible?

Posted on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 - 05:17 GMTPhysically, there is only one way to connect the Sony Handycam to your computer via the USB port. However, once it's connected, the Sony Handycam can serve two different purposes. The first purpose is to simply use the Sony Handycam as a memory card reader/writer to access the Memory Stick through your computer. The second purpose is to use the Sony Handycam to stream video. This article will explain how to set-up the Sony Handycam and your Windows Vista computer to do either. Make sure that you have installed the USB driver for the handycam. You can download the drivers from this link.

Connect the handycam to the AC adaptor. Set the handycam to USB stream mode. Set the tape at the point from where you want to start capturing in PC. Connect the handycam and the PC with the USB cable. Start Windows Movie Maker. Click on the 'Capture.'

Link to start the wizard. Select the Sony Digital Imaging Device. Specify the file name and path for the capture video. Select the desired capture format and Click Next. The dialog box now displays the Start Capture and End Capture buttons on the left and preview window on the right. Play the tape on the handycam.

The video from handycam should appear in the preview window of WMM. Click the Start Capture button to start capturing the video. Click End Capture to pause or stop recording. Click the Finish button.

The.wmv file will be saved in the path specified in step. Posted on Thursday, May 27, 2010 - 16:20 GMTHi i have a Sony Digital 8 Camcorder model no: DCR-TRV330E. Yale. Posted on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 - 21:36 GMThopefully this will help others resolve an issue: i'm running windows xp home edition with sp3 and ie 8. I have a sony mini-dv digital handycam model dcr-trv22. I was having the same problem; connecting the video camera via the usb port and unable to capture from video device via windows movie maker.

I have the image mixer v 1.5 software cd containing the sony usb driver and installed everything properly - but was still unable to have the device be recognized by the windows movie maker program. Very frustrating when it's supposed to be simple.

The fix for my situation was this; my video camera operating instructions booklet, page 156 'making the computer recognize your camcorder' - the video camera, itself, has a setting where you need to change the usb stream from OFF to ON. But i wasted a lot of time trying everything else.

Posted on Friday, November 05, 2010 - 10:06 GMTTo Suzane (Posted March 17, 2010) Thanks for the steps to get video from the recording cassette. I tried it and was successful saving the clips. But one point to discuss that the quality of video recorded from movie maker is bad. I gave the option of high quality (large) video in movie maker. But the recorded video is not as good as we see in the display screen of the handycam.

Video quality is bad, color is changed and some objects in low light can not be seen which are clearly visible in handycam screen. Is there any other program or technique by which we can get better video in PC?

I am using digital8 sony dcr285e PAL handycam Thanks.
